ND Industries has completed a major expansion of its chemical blending facility at its Troy, Michigan, USA campus. The expansion introduces a second dedicated production line for manufacturing and blending microcapsules - also known as microcaps or microspheres - significantly increasing the company's ability to produce its popular ND Microspheres Epoxy, ND Microspheres TA, and ND Microspheres Acrylic reactive threadlocking materials.
This capital investment reinforces ND Industries' market leadership by directly addressing global manufacturing demands through five key strategic advantages:
Tripled production capacity: The new microcap line allows ND Industries to triple its current output of reactive threadlocking materials, ensuring high-volume availability for automotive, electronics, aerospace, and electronics partners.
Domestic resiliency: By expanding production capabilities within the United States, this line strengthens the company's ability to support ND's network of regional processing facilities and global licensees with reliable, USA-produced material.
Engineered redundancy: The facility now features redundant reaction vessels and matching support equipment, establishing a robust contingency framework that minimizes manufacturing downtime and secures product availability.
Rapid reaction time: Co-locating chemists, process engineers, application engineers, and the core Research & Development division on the Troy, Michigan campus allows the team to collaborate in real-time and solve complex technical challenges.
Full custody supply chain: As a fully integrated manufacturer, ND Industries maintains total control over the entire product lifecycle - from synthesising raw materials and blending custom chemical formulas to the final application of materials onto customer fasteners.
"This facility expansion represents a monumental step forward in our mission to deliver world-class fastening solutions with unmatched speed and reliability," said Scot Wickham, Business Director at ND Industries. "By tripling our microsphere blending capacity and anchoring production right here in Michigan, we are providing our global customers and licensees with a highly resilient, fully integrated supply chain they can rely on."
