Nord-Lock Group has just introduced its new Typhoon+ hydraulic bolt tensioner
Boltight, part of Nord-Lock Group, has unveiled a new hydraulic bolt tensioner, developed to meet the technical and environmental demands of the wind energy market, where high bolt loads coupled with restricted access are common challenges.
The company says that its Typhoon+ design ensures reliability during frequent and repeated use on wind turbine projects, and especially those applications with low radial clearance.
The new design is said to offers ease of use and features a fast automatic spring-return design using a single reaction. This allows a full return-to-zero stroke piston retraction, and removes the need for any manual input. Improved seal technology is cited as another step forward, extending service life by reducing seal changeouts. Nord-Lock also states that safety is enhanced: over-stroke prevention removes the possibility of over-stroking the pistons. This, together with internal fail-safe technology keeps the tensioner on the bolt in the event of puller bar failure.
Nord-Lock is claiming a high life cycle for its new product with long service intervals on a unit that is not restricted by a fixed number of cycles thanks to its high grade material puller bar. Further advantages are said to include low maintenance and good durability.
The new Typhoon+ is available from the beginning of July 2021, and FasteningandBonding.net readers can discover more here.
