Stay-Put washers cut assembly time

Designed as a retention aid, StayPut Washers from ND Industries hold a fastener or multiple components in-place before final assembly

Unlike plastic retaining washers, says ND Industries, StayPut Washers are metal, allowing for what it calls “proper load distribution”. The washers are said to require a low installation force while still providing excellent retention of the washer to the threaded fastener.

Dry to the touch, a flexible polymer is bonded to the inner surface of a washer at 120° intervals, and this geometry helps keep the fastener centered in the washer opening whilst ensuring a secure hold. The washers are resuable under normal conditions, when they can be installed and removed five times or more without a significant loss of retaining force.

ND says that its Stay-Put washers are also convenient, removing the need to manually hold a washer in place while working overhead or in hard to reach locations. It also means that fasteners can be pre-assembled and staged for final locking. The new washers are dry, won’t leave any residue and can be stored for up to 2 years from the date of manufacture in temperatures from 4° Celsius to 32° Celsius.

ND states its chemical and mechanical engineers can work with designers and manufacturers to develop a product suited to specific needs, using its A2LA accredited laboratory, where verification testing can also be conducted.
