Yorkshire's most innovative and dynamic manufacturers were in the spotlight at the Made in Yorkshire Awards 2026 - and Tadweld emerged as one of the night's standout winners, scooping up the Manufacturer of the Year (Under 10m) award.
Tadweld was shortlisted alongside Trust Electric Heating and UK Doors Online in the Manufacturer of the Year (Under 10m) category.
Headquartered in Tadcaster, Tadweld delivers high-specification steelwork and coded welding solutions for global brands across a range of sectors. During the judging period the business recorded 38 per cent revenue growth, driven by significant capital investment in facilities, systems and production capability.
The judges described the company as a "really positive small business growth story", also praising its strong commitment to developing talent through apprenticeships.
The award follows a transformative period for the business. After a highly successful 2025, Tadweld entered 2026 with strong momentum across its core markets and a clear strategy for expansion.
Chris Houston, Managing Director at Tadweld, said: "We're absolutely delighted to receive this award. Yorkshire is full of outstanding manufacturers, so to be recognised amongst our peers is a huge achievement for the business and everyone who works here.
"2025 was a transformative year for Tadweld. We acquired new facilities, invested heavily in digital systems and machinery, and delivered more than 3,000 hours of training across the team. As a result, the business grew by around 40 per cent and we entered 2026 with real momentum.
"This year is shaping up to be another exciting one. After investing in ERP systems and expanding our manufacturing capacity, we're now focusing again on strengthening the team. We're currently recruiting across sales, operations and engineering, with several new roles already open and more planned later in the year.
"It's a challenging environment for UK manufacturing, but it's a real credit to our people that customers continue to choose Tadweld as their steelwork solutions partner for major projects. We're looking forward to building on this progress and continuing our growth through 2026."
Having welcomed its 50th employee during the past year, Tadweld continues to strengthen its workforce while pursuing new market opportunities and deepening its focus on key sectors.
With a clear strategic direction and ongoing investment in people, technology and production capability, the business is confidently positioned to deliver its strongest year to date in 2026.
Winners from the regional awards will now go forward to the national Made in the UK Awards 2026 in June.
